Technical Assistance

CSG can work with states to facilitate state-specific technical assistance and action planning sessions to identify pressing needs related to the long-term care workforce and policy opportunities. During these technical assistance site visits to states, invited policymakers will:

  • Hear presentations from relevant state agencies, subject-matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Discuss existing state policies and programs.
  • Identify current best practices and future opportunities.
  • Participate in state action planning with the support of CSG staff, partners and stakeholders.

Policymakers will receive resources and guiding documents, such as toolkits, resources, literature scans and case studies, to understand critical topics and challenges related to addressing the long-term care workforce.

CSG also welcomes requests for technical assistance in the form of publications and other resources to further understanding of long-term care workforce needs or solutions.

Who is Eligible?

Any state elected or appointed official can request a technical assistance site visit event from CSG and its partners. Requests from legislative or executive branch staff may be accepted under some circumstances. CSG retains ultimate decision-making authority and will consider each request in relation to scheduling, travel costs, member engagement and other factors. The individual or office requesting technical assistance should have the capacity to bring a bipartisan, bicameral, interbranch group of policymakers to the table; coordinate scheduling and promotion of the event; identify the specific focus of the discussion and need for assistance; and the stakeholder groups and subject-matter experts it might be helpful to hear from. The requesting individual or office must also be able to provide a suitable venue for the technical assistance site visit (i.e., committee hearing room at the state capitol, etc.). The bifurcated program of information exchange/stakeholder engagement and action planning can take place over the course of one day or be spread across two days.
