Innovation Classroom: The Next Generation of Cancer Therapies: Where We Are and Where We’re Going Next
December 1, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Innovation Classroom session sponsored by Gilead Sciences, Inc.
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)T-cell therapy is a cutting-edge cell therapy in which a patient’s own cells are removed, genetically modified, and infused back into the patient to fight their blood cancer. At this session, a researcher from Kite, a Gilead Company, will discuss what CAR T and cell therapy is, how it works, its clinical impact on certain cancer patients today, and the possible reach of its benefit on more patients in the near future.
Unfortunately, cancer impacts us all – individuals, families, economies and health systems in the U.S. and around the globe. During this session, Dr. Rossi will bring the impact of cell therapy to life, raise awareness and education around its transformative science, and show the impact it is having on the lives of cancer patients. State policymakers will gain an understanding of emerging therapies that will be available to their constituencies as we push the boundaries of what is possible in cancer care.
